A third Disney parks Indiana Jones Adventure was CONFIRMED today at D23. I summarized everything we learned in this short video and discussed my PREDICTION regarding the 'Mythical Creature' at the heart of the experience.

And that prediction is Quetzalcoatl, a feathered serpent deity of Mesoamerican myth! The same snake that appeared in Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine and also appears as a bust at Tokyo Disneysea's Indiana Jones Adventure! What do you think about my prediction and do you have an alternative theories?

If it is about a Maya temple the name of the deity might be Kukulcan, not my Aztec incarnation Quetzalcoatl.

The „cross“ in the concept art is inspired by Pacal‘s tomb in Palenque. It does represent the Maya world tree. The snakes depicted are not directly connected to Kukulcan/Quetzalcoatl.

btw. I think the temple in the concept art might be most influenced by Rosalila temple in Copan/Honduras (snakes galore):

Another exciting theory has emerged regarding this attraction. Namely that Ke Huy Quan is going to reprise his role of Short Round for the queue and safety video! I hope it's true! And I wonder if they would de-age him to be a kid or set the story later at a later date.

As far as I know Ke Huy Quan was invited to promote one of the upcoming Disney animation features. I assume once he was there he was asked to introduce the new Indiana Jones attraction as an alumni Indy celebrity. No connection between him and the attraction at this point of development. My opinion.
