*duckundweg*

Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse, Straight Outta Compton) is in final negotiations to join Samuel L. Jackson, Richard Roundtree and Jesse T. Usher in the upcoming Shaft movie, according to Deadline. The movie comes to us from Netflix and New Line Cinema. Neftlix will stream Shaft outside of the U.S. once New Line gives it a theatrical release in the United States. Jesse T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence) will play the estranged son of the detective that won’t cop out when there’s danger all about. As an FBI agent and cyber expert, the young and old Shafts are forced to team up and will butt heads throughout the new film. Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role of John Shaft (nephew of the original John Shaft) from the 2000 reboot by John Singleton. The original Shaft, Richard Roundtree, will also reprise his role as “Uncle John Shaft” for a bonafide Shaft family reunion. Tim Story, best known for Fox’s first two Fantastic Four movies from 2005 and 2007, will direct the film, which has a script by Kenya Barris (Girls Trip, black-ish). Story has carved out a healthy run of recent comedy hits, including the two Think Like a Man films and both Ride Along movies. Filming will begin on the new Shaft movie in December. Alexandra Shipp is known for her work in X-Men: Apocalypse where she played a young Storm. She’s also appeared in Straight Outta Compton as well as Tragedy Girls and Drumline: A New Beat. After Joss Whedon’s Firefly got abruptly canceled, there has been a great deal of buzz about a revival or a Serenity sequel. Almost twice every year, we hear reports about Whedon, Nathan Fillion and other actors being questioned about the possibility. Nobody has ever rejected the possibility, but, it is something that needs to see a lot of right conditions to converge before any progress being made. Most of those who were associated with the original are now busy with other projects. Various revival series’ are coming up such as The X-Files, Prison Break, Twin Peaks, Full House,Gilmore Girls, etc. and thus, there is a better chance of this sci-fi series getting revived. Fox is definitely not averse to the idea, in fact, they are welcome to it. David Madden, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting had recently spoken about it in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes. Madden said that he would think about it if Whedon is willing to do it. So, it all comes down to Whedon now who has been extremely busy in the recent years with Avengers films for Marvel. Therefore, the key question is.. Will Whedon be willing to do it? If yes then he should convey that to Fox! Whedon had said three years ago: “I’ve said repeatedly that I would love to make another movie with these guys, and that remains the case. It also remains the case that I’m booked up by Marvel for the next three years and that I haven’t even been able to get Dr. Horrible 2 off the ground because of that. So I don’t even entertain the notion of entertaining the notion of doing this and won’t. Couple years from now, when Nathan [Fillion]’s no longer [on] Castle and I’m no longer the Tom Hagen of the Marvel Universe and making a giant movie, we might look and see where the market is then.” Now that he is through with Marvel and Castle is no longer on Fillion’s table anymore, maybe there is a chance. Firefly might return as a film or a limited series. It doesn’t matter. Anything would be equally awesome. We just want to see those characters return for at least one more round of wild adventure. Dear Friends: 1. Sorry long time without update—been working my clown-ass off! 2. Been CLOSE to starting FZ2 multiple times now. Ultimately had to trim budget, had to do total rewrite (8 pages shorter now). Had to have numbers team rewrite new budgets for places with film tax deals (upstate NY, Spain, London, etc). 3. As often the case with independent films, it takes years of starts and stops and starts and stops-- a total tenacity and perseverance to finally get to the screen. That has been the case here—we have never stopped working on FZ2! 4. FORBIDDEN ZONE 2 IS MY DAMNED BUCKET LIST! I can’t die until it is done! At the risk of sounding pretentious, it is my holy mission to share this film’s music and absurdity with posterity. THIS FILM WILL BE MY LEGACY! 5. The producer team on FZ2 recently offered me a super low budget little sci-fi comedy to direct in December. On top me needing some income, they said doing little film will totally facilitate their ability to finally close the deal on the larger film: FZ2. That’s how things work in Hollywood. 6. When I looked at what I am grateful for on Thanksgiving, along with my wonderful family—I WAS GRATEFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON FZ2. 7. Thank you. God bless you. And with every cell of my being and the total force of my soul—I swear that we shall create a wonderful, fun and outrageous film to knock the world on it’s ass. Forbidden Zone 2. It is coming! Yes, it is coming! Love you all, Richard Quelle https://www.facebook.com/...6624632691
