This piece was made available to us for our ART OF RALPH McQUARRIE gallery show, in conjunction with the release of his ARCHIVES book.

McQuarrie, the artist best known for creating original concept designs for the STAR WARS series (as well as STAR TREK, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, E.T., and many more) contributed only one piece to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK - this unforgettable illustration from an ancient text, which turned out to be one of McQuarrie's most iconic images.

This stunning illustration is seen in an early scene in which government officials visit Marcus Brody and Indiana Jones at Indy's college, asking for information on Tanis, Abner Ravenwood, and the Staff of Ra. Indy opens a tome containing the illustration:

AGENT: "Now what's that supposed to be coming out of there?"
INDY: "Lightning. Fire. Power of God or something."

The version in the film had some crude coloring, but this print is a perfect reproduction of McQuarrie's original art, right down to his white-out and tape. It's a 1:1 representation, measuring 21" by 13½", the exact size of the original art.

Fun fact: the text at the bottom is gibberish. McQuarrie never thought the piece would be seen clearly enough to read it - and indeed, it was cropped out of frame on the original film.

This amazing print was manufactured by Dreams and Visions press for the McQuarrie estate. It is not a knockoff, reproduction, or shoddy copy, but a perfect, fully licensed, high-quality print using archival inks and paper.
