Plastikrand? Meinst Du die "sewn brim"? Das ist kein Plastik sondern Stoffband - so wie das Hutband (gibt einem Hut m.E. normalerweise das nötige Flair, um "elegant" zu wirken - ist nur bei einem Indyhut etwas Fehl am Platze).
