Das Drehbuch ist finsterer, man hat angst um das überleben der Charactere
Mac warein Russe, was die Antipatie des CIA gegenüber Indy besser zur Geltung bringt.
Marions Character war nicht so beit grinsend dargestellt.

Marion comes back into Indy's life on a mission (and not just a smile on her face), and like Ingrid Bergman's Ilsa, she has a husband in tow, a husband in "politics." Indy responds not unlike Bogey, and by the thrilling climax their relationship tugs enough heartstrings to satisfy even 19 years of anticipation. Darabont nailed this aspect of the script, infusing the emotional gravitas that was so lacking in KOTCS.
