Betreff: Re: Blade Runner 2
Hier mal meine Spoiler Free review, die ich gerade auf FB gepostet habe, daher in englisch. Hatte einfach keine Lust mehr die zu übersetzen.

It might interest you to hear that from my point of view the original Blade Runner still surpasses its sequel by a mile or so. Blade Runner 2049 is visually stunning but it just tries too hard... each sequence is orchestrated to be a piece of art, tries to be esthetic as can be and each dialogue is carefully put together. Too many artistic pauses for my liking that make the movie feel even longer than it already is. The story is also not completely believable and some scenes leave you with that "Why the heck did they do that?" question written all over your face. As for the "showdown": my oh my, what can I say... seriously, that was nothing in comparison to its predecessor. The biggest letdown for me though is Jared Leto, a character that does not work for me and that combines all the mistakes that I just listed. Still, there is a lot of good in this movie, first and foremost the stunning visuals. And there are some nice surprises... As for the score, I would need to listen to it a few times but even here I feel that the only tunes that caught me emotionally were the ones referring to the original score by Vangelis.
Anyway, I probably have to let it sink in for a night or two and then watch it again. But my opinion has not changed: this sequel was not necessary and from my point of view already overrated when looking at the reviews that have come in so far.

But hey, this is just me mumbling... so go and see it and judge for yourself!
You only have one life! You can make it either chicken shit or chicken salad!
